A Gift for Our Children

Civilization has evolved exponentially in the last couple of centuries as we continued to innovate and adapt to new technologies, yet in all this bustling change we seem to have undermined the importance of our environment and of our own health in the name of profitability and growth. While the development of plastics, fossil fuels, and genetic modification, to name a few, have allowed for many innovations, they have also incited numerous health hazards that plague our lives today. Is this trade-off inevitable? How can we restore our environment to its natural, majestic form? How can we leave a safer, more sustainable legacy for our children?

Natural farming: Our chance to do it right again

In order to keep up with rapidly growing populations, developing global markets, and the rise of consumerism, industries have had to learn to decrease costs and shorten production times lest they fall behind. However, in doing so, we have allowed many harmful chemicals to infect our surrounding environments from the air we breathe to the food we eat.

Following the increasing global awareness of industrial pollution came the development of organic farming which eliminated much of the chemical exposure with the use of more sustainable fertilizers and insecticides. Along with organic farming also came the popularization of land fallowing, a process in which land is vacated in order to naturally recover for a season or two to increase soil quality at the expense of lower yields and higher costs.

Blue Seeds takes this one step further. Although the organic movement has already helped remove many health hazards to which consumers were previously exposed, the organic fertilizer that is used is still synthetic nonetheless. To be labeled as “organic” one must meet many strict regulations, yet these regulations still provide a modest leeway for producers to use unnatural substances. To provide the most natural experience possible, Blue Seeds eliminates any and all chemical substances from its farming, manufacturing, and packaging processes. Instead of using organic fertilizers, they use worms or weeds to form a natural compost. Instead of using SLS, they have learned to fully utilize nature’s soap, the soapwort. All of their technology revolves around using nature, for nature, using the most primal resources and processes for farming.

At the same time, they operate through a contract farming model in which they are able to provide opportunities for local farmers by guaranteeing income in exchange from their cooperation in following the established natural farming guidelines. To top it off, Blue Seeds has erected its own e-commerce platform in hopes of reducing any additional retailer costs so that consumers can receive such high-quality products at the lowest price possible. Every step of the way, Blue Seeds looks to promote this vision of a more sustainable, more equitable world into the global mainstream.

Blue Seeds’ natural movement

From its daily household personal care products, to its therapeutic-grade natural essential oils, and to its herbal teas, Blue Seeds upholds its view that “Less is more” by ensuring that every single product is 100% all natural, without any chemical additives. Furthermore, most ingredients are cold-pressed or extracted through low pressure steam distillation in order to retain the most complete, original nutrients of each plant, highlighting the innate remedies of nature. Some products take an entire year to complete due to a maturation period of at least 6 months in which the nutrients become more refined, allowing customers to receive the healthiest, safest product possible.

Beyond just providing high-quality products, Blue Seeds is committed to raising awareness of this movement and to educating people about the importance of sustainability, the power of our local environment, and how everyone can help. As such, they have built workshops to this end, and to continue innovation new products and new natural farming technology. They have also established courses for young farmers to attend, to spread these natural farming techniques and to invite more farmers in on their natural movement.

Sustainable consumerism

Be it the planting, harvesting, manufacturing, or packaging, Blue Seeds employs local citizens who work by hand in order to provide more local opportunities and to promote a positive feedback loop with the creation of a sustainable, beneficial cycle between Blue Seeds, nature, and local communities. By putting these pure products onto the marketplace, they are finally inviting consumers to join in as well. Each product is designed to evoke a sense of nature and simplicity, reminding us of the beauty of everything that our Earth has to give and the importance of cherishing its gifts.

Protecting our environment should be everyone’s responsibility. By establishing a platform on which we can support such a vision, Blue Seeds has taken the first step towards that end for us. If we, as consumers, can unite in pursuing the goals of sustainability and celebrating nature, even in the marketplace, we can create a brighter, greener legacy for our children – one filled with vast fields garnished by flowers and trees; rejuvenating breaths of fresh air; and the harmonious cacophony of nature’s buzzes, chirps, and roars. This is the ultimate gift that we can give to them.
